Multipoint Settlement Gauges

Sisgeo’s Multipoint Settlement Gauges are precision-engineered instruments designed for monitoring vertical ground movement at various depths within soil or rock strata. These gauges provide critical insight into the settlement and heave behaviour of foundations, embankments, landfills, and other geotechnically sensitive structures.

How it works?

A series of settlement gauges (pressure transducers) is installed at various depths/sites and hydraulically connected via fluid-filled tubing to a reference tank positioned on stable, higher ground. Changes in settlement or heave alter the liquid column pressure, which is sensed and converted into displacement measurements.

With robust construction, customizable sensor layout, and long-term stability, Sisgeo's multipoint settlement systems are widely used in infrastructure, mining, transportation, and environmental monitoring projects. They are especially valuable during the construction and operation phases of large-scale earthworks and foundations, where layered subsidence or heave could compromise structural performance.

Typically, the user should select bill of materials based on deployment scenario:

  1. Pressure Gauge: Measures pressure variations due to settlement or heave.
  2. Settlement Plate: Provides a stable base for the gauge to ensure accurate readings.
  3. Protective Cover: Shields the gauge from environmental factors like dust and moisture.
  4. Hydraulic Tubing: Special liquid-filled tubing connecting reservoir to measurement points
  5. Signal Cable: Transmits data from the gauge to the monitoring system.
  6. Data Logging Interface: This is the interface that allows the tiltmeter to connect with compatible data loggers for data collection and monitoring.
  • MIND Portable Readout: A compact, multichannel readout unit for local readings of Sisgeo instruments.
  • CRD-400 READOUT: CRD-400 is a new generation multipurpose readout designed to take readings of all instruments including vibrating wire.
  • WR-Log Wireless Node: Wireless data transmission and remote monitoring through the node.
  • OMNIAlog Datalogger: Centralized data collection for remote monitoring and analysis.

Applications of Electric Anchor Load Cells:

  • Embankments & Earth fill Dams – To detect differential settlement, foundation consolidation, or heaving during and after construction and to monitor how fill materials and underlying strata respond to load, water seepage, or seismic activity.
  • Tunnels & Underground Structures – Measuring vertical displacement to detect potential ground movement.
  • Railway & Road Embankments – Measure long-term settlement of compacted fill and underlying soft soils and to Monitor the effects of repeated loading from traffic and seasonal water content variation.
  • Historical & Residential Buildings – Tracking settlement in aging structures to prevent damage.
  • Bridge Foundations – Observing settlement patterns to maintain structural integrity.
  • Mining & Subsurface Cavities - Monitor subsidence over mining operations, sinkholes, or underground cavities (natural or man-made) and to Track progressive collapse or void migration.
  • LNG Tanks, Large Reservoirs & Retention Basins - Evaluate settlement or uplift beneath massive circular foundations and to monitor tank performance over time under changing loads and temperatures.
