ALM Cabinet Door Sensor
The Adtran ALM Cabinet Door Sensor is a completely passive, fiber-based monitoring solution designed to provide 24/7 visibility of cabinet and facility door access at remote and unmanned locations. Cabinet Door Sensor is designed particularly for railway and utility environments and it enables operations teams to rapidly detect unauthorized access, vandalism and potential security breaches without requiring electrical power or batteries at the monitored location.
Cabinet Door Sensor is integrated with the Adtran Active Line Monitoring (ALM) platform, the sensor provides precise detection and location information whenever a monitored cabinet door is opened. In its normal state, the sensor generates an optical reflection. When the door opens, this reflection disappears, enabling ALM to identify which sensor has changed status and report the event within seconds. This helps operations teams respond quickly to the exact location being accessed.
Because the sensor is completely passive, there are no batteries to replace, no local power requirements, and no wireless or communication protocols to configure. Its passive architecture also eliminates the opportunity to jam wireless monitoring communications, helping improve security while reducing maintenance requirements and operational costs.
Multiple sensors can be daisy-chained on a single fiber link, supporting monitoring distances of up to 100 km. Event information can be centrally viewed through Adtran's network management environment with Fiber Director or compatible third-party NMS/GIS systems, making the solution suitable for protecting geographically distributed infrastructure.
